Information About Colombia


Colombia is a tropical country located in the northwestern corner of South America. Colombia is the only country in South America with coastlines on the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, with a land area of ​​1'141 .748 km2 and 928,660 km2 of maritime domains. It shares borders with Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru and Ecuador maritime borders with Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Haiti.

Two periods of rain-April to June and from August to November, and two summer presents almost the entire territory. The country enjoys a constant brightness throughout the year, with an equal amount of day and night hours.

The coffee, emeralds, flowers and tropical fruits are some of the main export products. One of the greatest potentials of the country's biodiversity. Colombia ranks second in the world after Brazil.

60% of the population is mestizo, 20% of European descent, 5% Afro, 13.5% mixed African and indigenous Indians and 1.5% pure. Diversity has generated an intelligent and industrious people, with great cultural richness and a high level of education. Bogotá, the capital and seat of government, is a modern and dynamic city that is home to almost seven million people. Medellín happen in importance, leading producer of textiles and clothing, with more than two million people and Cali, home to several multinational supplying the Andean region. Other cities that stand out are Barranquilla, Cartagena and Santa Marta on the Caribbean coast, Manizales, Pereira and Armenia in the Coffee Triangle, Bucaramanga and Cúcuta in the northeast and Ibague and Neiva in the Magdalena Valley.
